Event Details

The BBC College of Journalism, the Media Standards Trust and the science training for journalists programme at the Royal Statistical Society will be holding a public debate on Thursday 3rd March.

The motion for the debate is: We have too much transparency in our society not too little

Speaking for the motion: Rodric Braithwaite (former diplomat and writer) and Kevin Marsh (editor of the BBC College of Journalism)

Speaking against the motion: Mark Stephens (Finers, Stephens, Innocent; also on Julian Assange legal defence team), and Vaughan Smith (founder of the Frontline Club, and currently offering an address to Julian Assange)

Chaired by David Loyn (BBC)


NB this debate follows an afternoon of workshops on Data and News Sourcing (crowdsourcing, government data, semantic web, crime data and reporting, and expert science and health sourcing) taking place on the same day at the Royal Statistical Society.
